The vGov Project

Virtual Government (vGov) is a collaborative effort sponsored by the
Department of Agriculture (USDA) working in partnership with the
Department of Homeland Security (DHS), US Air Force (USAF) and National Defense University iRMC (NDU) in order to create a virtual world behind secure firewalls. The vGov cases studies encompass Federal-wide
initiatives which include employee training and education, continuity of
operations (COOP) and disaster response training.

The environments will be hosted completely within government Data
Centers, behind secure Government Firewalls, and authentication of all
participants will meet those of Level-2 Authentication standards set
forth by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The security
measures will ensure that authentication takes place before a
participant can enter and become a part of "in-world" activities.
